From James Halliday’s 2016 Australian Wine Companion (www.winecompanion.com.au):
Full, clear and bright hue; perfectly ripened and evolved varietal character courtesy of red and black cherry fruit; good length, still needing a few years to develop spice and other secondary flavours, and will undoubtedly do so.
Rating 93 – to 2023.
In what can only be described as one of the greatest growing seasons in recent memory with consistent temperatures and moderate rainfall the Capanno vineyard delivered wonderful, balanced fruit. Sweet red cherries, earthiness and spicy oak on the nose and an underlying forest floor showing on the palate. Subtle tannins slowly build leaving an intense wine with wonderful precision!
